Daniel Obal is a Ugandan Lawyer, Politician and Agri-Business Entrepreneur with a great passion for Youth, Women and Children’s Rights and over 5 year experiences working with government &development organizations. Born on 1st August 1997 in the Northern Uganda District of Lira to a middle class Family, Daniel Obal currently serves as Special Presidential Advisor Incharge Youth affairs to His Excellency the President of Uganda, The Head of the Secretariat for Continental Youth Development Programs at the Ministry responsible for youths and Team Leader of Youth In Business Uganda, a member of the African Union Ad-hoc Committee on Youth Engagement & Executive Director of Ndeshoba Holdings Limited (U).
Daniel attended Otim Tom Primary School for His Elementary/ Primary Education. He later joined Dr. Obote College Boroboro for his Ordinary Level Study: A Modern College in Northern Uganda Named After Uganda’s Independence Leader Dr. Apollo Milton Obote. He would then Join Mbogo Mixed Secondary School in Kawanda, Central Uganda where he completed His Advance Level Studies. Prior to Joining Mbogo, Daniel Attended Naalya Senior Secondary School Bweyogerere for a year. Upon Completion of Advanced Level Study, Daniel enrolled to the Prestigious Makerere University School of Law Kampala where he pursued a Bachelor Degree of Laws with Honors.
He also studied a Diploma in French Language Study from Alliance Francais Kampala and Advanced Certificate in Community Development from The Open University United Kingdom. Daniel’s Political and Legal Career dates back to the early 2000s. When he experienced the brutality of the Lord’s Resistance Army: Arebel outfit in Northern Uganda, and survived 3 consequent attacks in his village, Daniel would later set out to become a community leader vowing to study law tobring justice to his people. This Explains why he was student leader right from his elementary school.
He has engaged in various Socio-Political contests and Legal Advocacies and received several awards in Honor of his Immense contributions, notable among the Many, The Science and Technology Best Innovator Award in 2012 given to him by Her Excellency Retired Major Jessica Alupo then Minister of Education and Currently the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda and the Young Achievers Award Presented to him by the Federation of African Lawyers Association in Ghana 2021. Daniel has further engaged in various religious aspects and leadership cutting across the various denomi- nations. He has led clusters in the Anglican Community, the Scripture Union and the Muslim Fraternity.
He worked with faith organizations engaged in the pacification of Northern Uganda such as the Peace and Reconciliation Ministries in Northern Uganda. He also volunteered and Interned with the Uganda Christian Lawyers fraternity to Increase Access to Justice for the Vulnerable, Women, Youth and Children and served as member of various regional and continental youth organizations. Daniel has also been a two time Contestant for Member of Parliament of the Republic of Uganda. In 2020, He contested in the National Resistance Movement Primary Elections for Ajuri Constituency Member of
Parliament but lost to Hon. Denis Hamson Obua who is the Current Government Chief Whip in Uganda. In 2021 on independent ticket, Daniel Obal again contested for Northern Uganda Youth Member of Parliament in a hotly contested race which was characterized by show of money, power, influence and threat.
It took the Intervention of the National Chairman of National Resistance Movement Party who doubles as His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the then Northern Uganda National Resistance Movement Vice Chairman Rt. Hon. Jacob L’Okeris Oulanya who passed on while Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament and other Regional Youth Leaders and stake holders to Dialogue and Persuade him to leave the Race in favor of Official National Resistance Movement Candidate. Daniel would then leave the Race, and was requested by His Excellency the President to Assist him on Issues of Youth in the Country Daniel has engaged extensively in the field of Charity and Youth development.
He is the founder of Youth In Business Uganda- a Social Enterprise/ Non-Governmental Organization with a sole purpose of creating more job makers than Job seekers. He also works with Gender Based Violence Organization, which fights and Increase Protection for victims of Gender Based Violence. Daniel coordinates with various youth led organization and Initiatives in line with his official mandate of overseeing efforts aimed at bridging the gap between the young people and His Excellency the President. He has also served in the African Union Adhoc Committee that was tasked with reviewing the relationship between and African Union and the Pan African Youth Union Daniel is married, Devoted Christian and a Chartered Rotarian of the Rotary Club of London I&l Peace Envoy, London- United Kingdom.
