Danny Acheampong is Deputy Director at the Economic, Trade and Investment Bureau. Obtained BA French &Political Science from the University of Ghana, and MPA from Seoul National University(SNU), Korea. Holds certificate in Peacekeeping Operations from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College and Certificate in Diplomacy from the Indian Foreign Service Institute, New Delhi. Danny has served his country in various capacities. Was the Assistant Director of State Protocol, Office of the President, from 2017-18, before being posted to the Consulate General of Ghana in Toronto as the Consular Officer for Political and Economic. He’s the owner of a media company, Afrikom Media Group with a branch in the US.
Mr. Acheampong has been a socio-political communicator before joining Ghana Foreign Service in 2013. Before then, he taught in the 2nd cycle schools from 2009-2012 and held several posts while imparting knowledge to our future leaders. Church and the service to God is Danny’s passion as he is a devoted Christian and have held leadership positions at the highest levels of the Lord’s Kingdom. After first degree, Danny had his National Service at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in 2007-2008. Shortly afterwards, he worked at the Office of President as Youth Coordinator from 2008 to 2009, under the tutelage of the former Chief of Staff during the Kufour’s presidency. Later, due to change of regime, he had a stint at CAL Bank Ghana as part of the Back Office operations.
Danny’s love for public service led him to leave his banking job for a teaching job in the rural Ghana. It was during this period that he became interested in governance of his country, owing to his palpable experience with poverty and neglect among rural folks. In 2013, Danny was recipient of a Grad Scholarship award at SNU where he studied Global Public Administration. There, he held the flag of Ghana high. Since leaving SNU, he has been twice invited to make a presentation at the Asia Development Institute on a number of topics including, “Striving for Social and Economic Transformation: Public Policy and Changing Agents”. His master’s thesis focused on how to foster national unity for Africa’s regional integration and economic advancement.
In 2015, Danny received an award as one of the best workers in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the innovation he brought to the public affairs bureau. Now a diplomat, Mr. Acheampong believes the sky might not even be the limit to achieving his destiny to serve Ghana at the highest level.
